Travel Awards WASPAA 2019

The organizing committee of the 2019 IEEE Workshop on Applications of Signal Processing to Audio and Acoustics (WASPAA) is pleased to announce the availability of travel awards to support student authors (and non-student authors from developing countries) attending the conference to be held in Mohonk Mountain House, New Paltz, NY, October 20-23, 2019.
All applicants will be considered for travel awards, some of which are made available by the IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS). Applicants are also able to apply for a registration fee waiver and/or an accommodation waiver. This should be made clear in the covering letter. The Awards Committee is responsible for deciding the extent of each award. For the avoidance of doubt, due to the different sources of travel awards, some applicants will only receive a Travel Award. Others will receive a Travel Award together with an award for either or both of Registration and Accommodation. If these have already been paid, they will be reimbursed.
If you have any questions, please contact the Awards Chair Mark Sandler.

Eligibility:

  • Eligible are student authors of accepted papers, and non-student authors of accepted papers in developing countries (see also http://www.ieee.org/membership_services/membership/join/emember_countries.html)
  • The applicant must be a member or student member of the IEEE Signal Processing Society (http://signalprocessingsociety.org/get-involved/membership) at the date of application.
  • Every application must include a recommendation letter from a supervisor or a senior colleague who is familiar with your work.
  • A paper is considered a student paper if and only if the first author is a student at the time of the paper submission deadline.

  • Accommodation and meals from Sunday (October 20, 2019) to Wednesday (October 23, 2019) (three nights in total).

  • Only a limited number of grants will be awarded, and on a highly competitive basis.
  • The grants will be awarded to applicants who have a genuine need for support, and the paper quality may be taken into consideration while fostering diversity.
  • The grants can only be used to cover the travel expenses for applicants to attend WASPAA.
  • Travel will be on a reimbursement basis at the conference.
  • The SPS travel grant selection and oversight committees reserve the right to make the final decision regarding all applications.
