(9/15) WASPAA 2023’s in-person registrations reached the venue’s capacity. Thank you very much for the kind interests. We still accept the virtual registration until Oct. 6 at https://web.cvent.com/event/aac34977-59aa-4102-9dd6-da17ba72a2a2.
(9/9) Thanks for your patience. We opened the registration system back again. Now that the Mohonk Mountain House hotel is sold out, any in-person registrants should find their own lodging and local transportation options. We unfortunately don’t have any officially recommended hotels in New Paltz, but we heard some WASPAA attendees are staying at America’s Best Value Inn New Paltz. We will create a Slack channel for those who are commuting to the workshop. Please note that we have to finalize all registrations by Oct. 6, and there are only limited new seats (about 15), so we suggest that the new registrations should be made sooner rather than later. Virtual registrations are not affected by this capacity limitation, but we will not accept any more virtual registrations after Oct. 6. (9/2) Updates on re-opening the registration system: Since the Mohonk Mountain House (MMH) is completely sold out, we are sorting out room reservations to assign registered guests to their rooms. Plus, we are communicating closely with the hotel to maximize the final number of guests (whether they stay for the night or not), considering the lecture rooms and dining rooms’ capacity. We will be able to re-open the registration system later this week (9/9-ish) to the general public—sorry for the delay. We are expecting that we might be able to admit 20 more registrations. Please note that the new registrants need to find their own lodging options in New Paltz, and the local transportation from their hotel to MMH, as MMH is completely sold out. You are still welcome to enter the MMH facility for the workshop, and your day attendance fee to enter MMH ($175 per day) is covered by your WASPAA registration. It includes a lunch buffet, but dinner needs to be purchased separately ($135) and will be assigned to a different dining room: we are working on it, but the biggest dining room we secured is not large enough to host too many guests.
(8/23) Updates about the non-author registration: The room blocks that we secured for the workshop were almost sold out by the authors’ early registrations. We are currently working with the hotel to figure out the number of additional available rooms for WASPAA. With that information, we will announce the registration link to the public soon (hopefully within this week). Apologies for keeping you waiting!
(Registration and hotel reservation information was sent to the authors of accepted papers for early registration. It was sent from the CMT system on Jul 20, so please check your spam folder if you didn’t receive it yet. Registration will be open to the public at later times.)
The Registration Information for WASPAA 2023
As planned, we are going ahead to have WASPAA as a hybrid event—simultaneously online and at the Mohonk Mountain House in New Paltz, New York, U.S.A.
Our registration policy is as follows:
- Each accepted paper should be presented by one of the authors who participates in the conference in an in-person manner. The workshop has no means to support a virtual attendee’s paper presentation.
- Regardless of the in-person presenter’s registration type (i.e., a student or full registration), each accepted paper must be covered by a full on-site registration rate (i.e., one among non-member, IEEE member, or IEEE-SPS member) by August 22, 2023. A full registration can cover up to 4 papers.
- Virtual registration rates are not associated with authorship and presentation as they are for remote attendees’ limited workshop experiences (e.g., watching recorded keynotes, watching pre-recorded oral presentations, and Slack communications with the authors).
If you are an IEEE or IEEE SPS member or student member, you can take advantage of the membership reduced fee.
On-site Registration Fees
These rates apply to authors covering or presenting papers as well as all on-site attendees.

Important note on the registration fees this year: We would like to inform you that this year’s registration fees include additional accommodation expenses (e.g., coffee breaks) that were previously charged as part of the room rate. The cost for accommodation is $175 per person per night, totalling $525. This amount will appear as a credit on your final hotel bill, effectively lowering the lodging cost by that amount, accordingly. In addition, we would like to inform you that a $175 day fee is required to enter the facility for those who are not staying at Mohonk. However, we are pleased to inform you that the workshop registration fees cover it, and therefore, no additional day fees are required. For further information, please refer to our venue and lodging Information page.
Travel awards: This year, we are pleased to inform the participants that there will be an unprecedented amount of travel grants available to students, young professionals, and underrepresented groups, in the form of registration fee waivers and additional grants. Please find more information on our travel awards page.
