Granlibakken Tahoe
Participants are strongly encouraged to stay at Granlibakken Tahoe. Reservations are handled through a special website, whose link is given on the confirmation page once attendees complete the workshop registration. After all rooms in our block are taken, reservations will be accepted on a space-available basis only. Reservations must be made with the hotel directly using the URL provided in the registration confirmation.

The rates above are valid from 10/12 to 10/15 and include, when combined with the workshop registration, three consecutive meals daily, beginning with dinner on the day of arrival through lunch on the day of departure.
Single/Double Occupancy refers to whether the attendee is sharing a room with another attendee also registered to the workshop:
- To benefit from the Double Occupancy Rate, the room needs to be shared with another registered attendee also paying the Double Occupancy Rate. If you would like to be paired with a roommate, please fill in the Google Form linked in the acceptance notification email.
- Attendees may share a room with guests who are not registered to the workshop. In such cases, the following additional daily charges will apply for each additional person:
- Guests aged 13 and over: $127
- Guests aged 7 to 12: $64
- Guests under 7: free
An attendee sharing their room with guests but not with another registered attendee will pay the Single Occupancy Rate. Two registered attendees sharing their room with guests will each pay the Double Occupancy Rate.
Each attendee who plans to share a room with another attendee (even a spouse) should go through the hotel booking separately: they should each indicate their WASPAA Registration number, book the same type of room (Standard or Deluxe) at the Double Occupancy Rate, and indicate each other as roommate in the comment section on the hotel booking site. One of the attendees can add other guests (e.g., children) on their reservation.
It should be clear from the above, but just in case: registered attendees cannot stay at the hotel as guests of other attendees, they need to pay one of the Standard/Deluxe Single/Double Occupancy Rates.
Meals and Day Attendee Charges
All meals (Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner) will be served at the Granlibakken Tahoe.
Most of the expenses for the meals are included in the workshop registration, with the rest being included in the hotel room rates.
Attendees who are not staying at Granlibakken Tahoe will need to pay a daily charge of $41 to cover the rest of the meal expenses and the use of the hotel facilities, which they will need to book on the hotel booking site.
Check-in/check-out
Check-in begins after 4:00 pm, and check-out time is 11:00 am. Participants may arrive earlier than the check-in time; Granlibakken Tahoe will do their best to accommodate early check-in and late check-out at no additional charge, subject to room availability. If early check-in or late check-out is not possible, the hotel will provide secure luggage storage.
Extending your stay
You are welcome to extend your stay before and/or after the workshop dates. The hotel booking site will allow WASPAA attendees to book from October 9 to October 18. Outside of the workshop dates, only bed & breakfast will be provided, and the rates will be per room (*not* per person) as follows:
$199.56/night – Standard room (room only, including taxes and service charge)
$244.49/night – Deluxe room (room only, including taxes and service charge)
If you plan to share your room with someone else outside of the 10/12-15 dates, only one person needs to book the room. Please indicate in the comment section that you will be sharing the room with someone else.
Getting there
The hotel is accessible in roughly 1 hour by shuttle service (North Lake Tahoe Express) from Reno International Airport.
To book at a discount, please book directly on the North Lake Tahoe Express website and use the discount code provided by Granlibakken (and in our email). This coupon code should allow attendees to book shuttle service at $50 per trip, assuming that you arrive around the same time as several other WASPAA attendees. You should *not* be charged when you book; instead, NLTE will invoice the hotel, which will charge your room (if you booked a Conference Only fee, please make sure to stop at the Front Desk to pay your transportation). Travel will occur in 14-person vans designated exclusively for WASPAA attendees, and they will go directly to the hotel without making additional stops.
For the way back from Granlibakken to RNO airport on Wednesday, there will be a sign-up sheet at the hotel’s Front Desk.
If your schedule does not work with the shuttles that will be planned, or you’d rather arrange your own travel, you can book separately online or call 833-709-8080. For reference, public fares, which are $99 one-way for 1 person, are discounted down to $55 one-way per person for 5-11 people (so, lower than what the hotel charges, but you’ll have to find your own group of 5+ people arriving at the same time). Reservations are required at least 24 hours in advance. “Granlibakken Tahoe” is under “West Shore” in the Drop-off menu.
It’s also possible to drive from Sacramento (100 miles) or San Francisco (200 miles). Parking at the resort is free.
