WASPAA 2023 Demonstrations
In addition to paper submissions, we are seeking demonstrations of novel technologies for IEEE WASPAA 2023. Demonstrations are intended to complement the workshop program with respect to practical achievements, challenges, implementations, integrations, and prototypes. Demonstrations will be held in-person and a supplementary pre-recorded video showcasing the work is required for our virtual platform.
Important Dates
- July 12, 2023: Notification of acceptance for papers
- July 21, 2023: Demonstration submission deadline
- July 31, 2023: Notification of accepted demos
- August 31, 2023: Camera-ready demonstration video submission deadline
Submission Guidelines
Demos must be submitted on CMT, separately from the paper track (submission site: https://cmt3.research.microsoft.com/WASPAA2023/Submission/Index). We expect a 2-page document using the paper submission template plus a 30-sec teaser video at the time of submission. The presenters of accepted demos are also required to submit a “long-form” video as the full version. The demo submissions must be submitted anonymously (2 pages max, excluding references).
- A brief description of the system to be demonstrated, detailing the application, problem scenario, key technology, and what a visitor can learn from the demo. In particular, authors should highlight the novel contributions, integrated algorithms, and interactive aspects of the system.
- A complete list of equipment and physical space needed is required. Authors must provide their own equipment. Space may be limited. Demos with headphones are recommended.
- At the time of submission, only a teaser video is required. Another full “long-form” video (i.e., a camera-ready version of the demo) upload is expected after the acceptance of the demo.
- If the demo is related to a paper submitted to WASPAA, authors should specify the paper ID.
- At least one author of each accepted demo is required to register to WASPAA.
- The PDF, teaser, and long-form videos can be updated until the camera-ready demo deadline (August 31).
Video Format
- Teaser video – Duration: 30 seconds (max). A pre-recorded one-slide slide show presentation.
- Long-form video – Duration: 2-3 minutes (recommended). 5 minutes (max).
- File size: 100MB max.
- Video file format: mp4
- Dimensions: Minimum height 720 pixels, aspect ratio: 16:9
- Instructions for recording with Zoom or for authors who are unable to access Zoom, you may use the free software OBS, which also allows the simultaneous recording of the speaker and slides: OBS Studio.
Selection Process
Each submission will be assessed by the Organizing Committee with a double-blind review process. Authors will be informed of acceptance or not via email and through CMT by the deadline listed above. The evaluation criteria are:
- Relevance to topics of interest of WASPAA 2023
- Significance and originality
- Technical quality
- Maturity and readiness for demonstration in physical or virtual form
- Potential for public interaction
